Hi, community
I am using Filemaker (single version, no network) on a Mac, but I want to leave Mac for Linux. Therefore I am looking for alternatives that I might use. Maybe you can help me with KEXI? Here is what I have and what I want: 1) I am using lots of Filmaker files, but on a technically very low level. Starting from simple "To-Do" Lists up to more complex things like billing. But as I mentined the technical level is low. Maybe I have some small scripts like filling some fileds automatically by a simple maths operation. (Adding contents of fields or adding a percentage...) But as I have so many of those files transferring the content manually is not possible. 2) Therefore I would be glad to use an alternative to Filemaker that can process the data I have already stored in Filemaker. I suggest to export them from FM and import them into KEXI. If layouts have to be added manually, that would be OK. Can anybody please tell me, whether this is possble in KEXI or not? and if it is possiblee: Is there any tut out there that explains how it works? Thanks rabo |

One option could be to export tables from Filemaker to SQLite and then to KEXI. It's not automatic process at the moment, you need to write a script or hire someone to do so.
Another option is to export tables from Filemaker to CSV files and then KEXI can import them using provided GUI functions. Any such migration needs closer investigation to ensure all must-have features are available after migration. You need someone to do that as well. Best regards. |
