Kexi - Importing mdb file (encoding)

Fri Dec 03, 2010 12:48 pm
Imported database displays question marks instead of letters. The source language is Russian. I think that the problem in encoding. How can I change the encoding?

For my understanding MS Access uses CP1251 encoding. Perhaps we have to fix something in this case, it will help if you can send me (staniek at kde.org) a tiny .mdb file with Russian encoding. It can contain just one table with a few records or so.

OK, the bug appears to be fixed.
To benefit from it one needs to patch and compile Kexi 2.3.0.
Or if you're unable to do that, wait for release of 2.3.0 (which hopefully will include the fix).

1. Download Kexi with KOffice source code as explained at http://wiki.koffice.org/index.php?title ... ng_KOffice

2. Download the patch by 'saving as' file.patch in 'koffice/' source code directory: http://bugsfiles.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=54323
3. Apply it by executing:

patch -p0 < file.patch

4. build and install Kexi (recipes at http://wiki.koffice.org/index.php?title ... ng_KOffice)

Thanks for your assistance!
