I deliberately gave a long name to one of my pdf file. The name was extended to an extent that it started encroaching the name of other files.
Is it something addressable or I should start learning modern technologies like meta data.

I did not find the way to attach the snapshot. If it is needed kindly suggest a way.

If you can upload your screenshot to some server, you can insert it into a reply to this post by clicking the "Img" button.

Another question: What is your Dolphin version?

Here is the snapshot

Dolphin version is 2.0, kde 4.8.2.

Another observation: When file name was " http:⁄⁄www.trainweb.org⁄oldtimetrains⁄CPR⁄general⁄chalk_making.htm .pdf" an gap of two line appears here. When I rename the file to " http:⁄⁄www.trainweb.org⁄oldtimetrains⁄CPR⁄general⁄chalk_making.htm.pdf" i.e. eliminated space (which was appearing here as linebreak i.e. enter key), it got shortened by removal of extra linespacing. The snapshot is here.

If needed, I can give pdf file also.

Hm, very strange. I cannot reproduce the problem here. Probably I have to make sure that I use your settings. Could you provide all settings from the "View Modes/Icons" section of the "Configure Dolphin" dialog? In particular font, font size, and text width. Thanks.

Now even I am facing difficuly to reproduce it.

I had another peculiar obseration on dolphin which was posted in a different forum. It is reproduced by few quirky steps.

I also need to know what your "System Font" is. If you set the Font to "Custom" and then click "Choose...", the system font and the font size should be shown.

Does that mean that you can reproduce it sometimes, or that you cannot reproduce it at all any longer (maybe after an update)? In the latter case, there's probably not much we can do. What is your current Dolphin version, by the way?

I can't see how this is related to the problem you've reported here. Creating links between unrelated topics does not help anyone, it just makes it a lot more difficult to read a topic and to understand what the problem is.

Ubuntu family (8 or 9 as the size). Monospace was used as fixed width font. Now I am not able to reproduce it at all. And of course now spending time on it is not logical.

Thanks for your attention It was a weird problem and I was just fancying my chance and was actually ready to live with it.

The other post was mentioned here as a polite request again. If I remember correctly, it was started before this forum was started. Please see if you can suggest something. I preferred this route over starting a new forum. Sorry, it it has caused distraction.

I apologise if I sound meaningless or disrespectful.

If you find a way to reproduce it reliably later on, please let us know. Maybe the issue was really fixed by an update on your system.

But it does appear in the "Help" section of our forum, and every time a new reply is added, it is shown on top of the list. Therefore, I was aware of that post, I just could not reproduce the problem and I have no idea what is causing the issue on your system. I just didn't reply to the post first because I felt that that would not add much value after bcooksley's reply.
