Expandable Folders missing in dolphin (fresh Xubuntu 12.04)

I just installed Xubuntu 12.04 (x64) then apt-got Dolphin.
The preferences dialog doesn't contain the expandable folders option like it did in the previous version.
Do I need to install something else from KDE? (I did a brief google, couldn't find anyone else complaining).

(Note: I utterly despise KDE for forcing me to have Nepomuk etc installed, but I put up with it for one reason: expandable folders.)

Thanks.
Simon.

It's no longer an option, folders are always expandable in Details View.

I found the answer.
They weren't expandable until I installed kde-workspace-bin.
Unfortunately, now I have Akonadi too :(

Not everyone in the KDE community likes "Nepomuk etc.", but using this kind of language does not help anyone. Please consider http://www.kde.org/code-of-conduct/ when posting here. Thanks.

I strongly disagree. My comment did not breach any reasonable conduct rules nor did it breach KDE conduct rules.
Stating that I despise a component that is frequently criticised does not amount to disrespect for anyone. Nor was it highly emotional, an argument, or more than a minor side-note (which was primarily intended to convey just how much I desired expandable folders, especially since I saw elsewhere that there were recent changes around this feature which may have been related).

From the code of conduct:
Disagreement is inevitable, from time to time, but respect for the views of others will go a long way to winning respect for your own view.

Unless you want to wear rose-colored blinkers, you must allow people to express dislike with ideas and components. You do want to know the true opinions of your userbase, right?

Please let me quote from your original post:

IMHO, this is neither considerate nor respectful. If you want to express your dissatisfaction about KDE's requirement to install Nepomuk on your disk (even though this is really off-topic when talking about expandable folders), there are other ways to say that. Saying that you "utterly despise" the entire project is not helpful.

I am always interested in user feedback, and I try to fix any annoyances that users find (provided that my limited free time and my skills enable me to do so). "Expressing dislike with ideas and components" is fine for me, provided that the code of conduct is followed.

Ach, OK. Rereading it I guess you're correct. I humbly apologise.

I utterly despise KDE

What I should've said is "I utterly despise KDE's current practice of forcing me to install things I do not want".

In Ubuntu 18.10, Dolphin 18.04.3, the above is not available anymore, what is needed is `kde-runtime-data`.
