Hi, now that ICS android devices are more and more common, the problem arrises that dolphin can't browse MTP devices. This is a pretty big problem, because it basically means that my girlfriend has to boot windows everytime she wants to copy any devices from or to the device.
Is there anything planed to support MTP devices? |

she should be able to use Amarok for this as there is a MTP plugin, guessing the required packageis libmtp9
(of course you distro might be different) |

I'm not talking about music, but stuff like pdf files, videos etc. The idea is to be able to use it as a "normal" usb stick.

There is MTP support in Dolphin now due to a new KIO slave. I'm not sure if it made it to KDE 4.9.2 or not but hopefully most distros will package it due to its usefulness.

AFAIK, the new MTP kioslave is not (yet) an official part of any KDE release, but I hope that distros will provide it soon.

openSUSE has it in the KDE unstable playground repo which is "Alphas, betas and SCM snapshots of KDE applications under development"

If installing kio-mtp does not work in Kubuntu, you might want to ask in a Kubuntu forum or mailing list for assistance. |
