Hello, I am using KDE 4.8.5, and for a day or two now I have seen a change in the "file upload" dialog I encounter when uploading a file to a webpage.

Previously, when I encountered the file upload dialog, I could start typing in a few characters, and they would appear in a small text entry box towards the bottom of the page, and the listing of files would begin to select those characters on files that began with that particular string.

Now, the focus is instead on the "Location" bar at the top of the dialog, requiring additional interaction to move the focus from the Location bar to the main field listing files.

Is there any way to restore the initial focus of the file upload dialog to being in the file listing, rather than the Location bar?

Are you using the breadcrumb or location url bar in the select file dialog?
On my system (KDE Trunk, using the breadcrumb) the focus is set correctly (as you previously expected).

Thanks, bcookley. I don't know what breadcrumbs are, but I stumbled on the solution by making the "Location" bar disappear by clicking the radio button in the top-left corner that says "Type a File Name" when hovering the mouse cursor over it.

That got rid of the Location bar, and now when I start typing the little box on the bottom-right appears, showing the characters I am typing, and the file list selection jumps to the relevent file(s).

The breadcrumb is the Home > Documents (or which ever path is being displayed) near the top of the file selection window (just underneath refresh, back, forward and up buttons).

Good to hear it is solved in any case.
