kubuntu 12.04
Qt: 4.8.2 KDE Development Platform: 4.9.00 Dolphin: 2.1 After updating to KDE 4.9 (through the kubuntu backports) I've noticed that Dolphin is taking a very long time to bring up a menu one a right click. It can take 4 or more seconds for the menu to come up, doesn't seem to depend on file type or directory contents nor on previous access or lack of access. So far as I can tell during the wait it's consuming 100% of one core. Any ideas? |

can you test as a new user?
using ksysguard is it Dolphin using the core or a diff app/process? |

No issues. On logging back in as myself I found that it worked for 10-15 seconds until all the setup was complete.
It appears to be virtuoso-t that is consuming the CPU. I tried to make sure that it wasn't in the dolphin settings by renaming the ~/.kde/share/apps/dolphin directory, no luck. I don't have the Nepomuk file indexing running if that matters. |

Virtuoso is part of Nepomuk, which Dolphin uses if it is available. This would definitely explain the issue.
I suggest removing ~/.kde4/share/apps/nepomuk outside KDE - assuming you do not use the tags, ratings or other data stored in Nepomuk. If you do not have a ~/.kde4 directory, try ~/.kde instead.
