May be I'm missing something very obvious, but I couldn't figure out a way to mount ISO image (DVD) from Dolphin. Is it even possible? I expected it to be pretty much available out of the box. (I'm on Debian testing with KDE 4.8.4).

I found this hack: http://blog.desdelinux.net/monta-archiv ... e-dolphin/
But it looks way too manual to me and not user friendly for those who attempt to do such thing without knowing where to start. I personally can mount stuff with mount, but some people like GUI, so doing it from Dolphin is a natural thing to expect. |

In Dolphin: Control -> Configure Dolphin... -> Services -> Download New Services... -> Search for 'mount' -> install "Simple mount Iso service menu" (I tried this one) or maybe "kde-services" -> Close.
Now you can mount iso files by right-clicking on then and choose Actions -> Mount iso. You may have to restart Dolphin for it to show up.

Thanks. That's the same I found, just more streamlined installation. But why isn't such functionality available in Dolphin out of the box in a more integrated fashion, or KDE deemed ISO mounting not a common use case?

KDE-services works good enough, and has a lot of other useful things.
You need to manually compile and install it however. At least on Kubuntu 12.10 64-bit. |
