Dolphin's file Properties window

Mon Dec 15, 2014 8:44 am
Hi everybody.
I found a "problem" about the properties window on dolphin 4.14.3 (dunno if it was present in earlier versions):
when open properties of a directory, or better, two or more, its windows is bonded to the directory window, it is difficult to compare the properties of 2 or more directories.
It is, thanks kde4, possible to show on all desktops the properties windows and see them and compare in a second desktop.

Is it possible to unbind the window and its properties?

Many thanks.

I'm not sure if I understand what you mean. I can open multiple "Properties" windows by right-clicking files and folders in the view, or the empty space in the view, and then selecting "Properties" in the menu. I can also move these windows freely to different desktops.

Could you maybe add a screenshot that makes it clearer what you mean? Thanks.

Thank you for your answer and sorry if I did not explained better.
Property windows appear, but I cannot put them side by side easily because of the dolphin windows.
If I iconify the dolphin window, also the property windows disappears.

Could you please attach a screencast of your problem?

Transient dialogs are un/minimized w/ their leaders, likely a taskbar related behavior (it's been like that forwver)
We've once changed that for modal dialogs (when rethinking the requirements of this condition in general), but not non modals.

I however do not understand the relation to

That makes no sense at all to me - screencast might indeed be a good idea.
