Hi,

IMO search results should include hidden files and folders if dolphin is set to show these as well (via ALT+.). However this is not the case.
Example:
create directory ~/.bla
create file ~./bla/bla.txt

Now enable "show hidden files" in dolphin and search for bla in your home directory. Neither the folder nor the file shows up. Is this intented behaviour? It's not what I would expect.

The Baloo is indexing the files. The Dolphin search is making queries to the Baloo database. If the database doesn't have the needed data then the Dolphin can't show it. Older topic: viewtopic.php?f=154&t=124395

Testing at here with:

$ dolphin -v
dolphin 16.04.0

$ baloosearch -v
Baloo 5.21.0

At here the Baloo is not indexing hidden files even if it is telling that is doing it( http://vhanda.in/blog/2015/10/baloo-5-15/) :

$ balooctl config list hidden
yes

After a bit of hustle&bustle with the Baloo settings the Baloo is indexing the hidden folders and the Dolphin is showing them.

Another tool is the Catfish; Catfish: http://www.twotoasts.de/index.php/catfish/
