HI,

After my laptop freeze, I had to do hard reboot, and now KDE use different icon for default folder. It use folder-bookmark icon instead of folder icon. All the folder on all drives (even external) use folder-bookmark icon as default for folders.

Have a look (those with red-badge should look like this in the middle).

How to fix it?

Try to delete the icon cache (~/.cache/iconcache.kcache or ~/.kde(4)/cache-hostname/icon-cache.kcache for KDE4).

And/or reinstall the oxygen icon theme. If the "folder" icon is missing/broken, the icon loader probably falls back to some other "folder-xxx" icon.

I deleted icon cache twice, and reinstalled icon theme. Still the same. Even when I use Breeze theme, I have the same problem - it use folder-bookmark icon. I could manually switch hundreds of icons back into ordinary "folder" icon, but when I plug in an external disc, all the folders use folder-bookmark icon.

Maybe somewhere in settings is a place, when we could choice - how default folder icon should looks like?

You can set the default icon for a filetype (inode->directory in this case) in KDE's system settings->Applications->"File Associations".

Those settings are stored in ~/.local/share/mime/ btw (~/.local/share/mime/packages/ in particular), so you could also just try to delete this.
