Hello there!
I have to move to a new Distro, because Mint does not support KDE anymore (what a mistake!). How can I take all my dolphin settings (view, bookmarks, folderviews, ...) to the new Distro? ... like with Firefox or Thunderbird, you just copy and paste the .default folder. How can I do this with dolphin? Best greetings from cold and sunny Germany! |

It seems, that the configuration of the Places-column is in this file:
/home/user/.local/share/user-places.xbel So moving this file to the new installation will hopefully import the whole Places-column, The locations of the other settings are still unknown to me. And here nobody seems to know either. |

I just made the move to KDE Neon from Linux Mint 17.3/18.3 KDE and made a lot of notes on things to do to make the conversion. I can share those notes with you if interested. I started the practice way back on LM 16. LM 17.3KDE is my favorite, but support ends this April. I made the move from LM 18.3KDE and had KDE Neon format / and /home partitions then I copied Thunderbird files over from LM 18.3KDE /home then started loading software I use manually using my notes. I see the file you are talking about. In my case it was a simple matter of manually adding the places in Dolphin, but I only have 8 or 9 special places. I don't get answers to my posts a lot of the time. Don't know if it is that no one knows or we are posting in the wrong place. Just thought I would provide a response and tell you it is likely colder here in NW Montana than in Germany.

Thank you for your answer!
~/.config/dolphinrc ... seems to be important too! Did you find any other important file? |

I am in the process of updating the secure-delete drop down for files/folders in dolphin. An Italian fellow wrote it for KDE3 and KDE4. I have modified his scripts to work in KDE5 and may try to contribute the routines if I can figure out how to do it. I use it to securely delete decrypted files with sensitive information.

Thank you for you offer!
But I don't use the secure-delete drop down for files/folders. I wish you good luck anyway! |
