Dear all,
I use konsole (Terminal) panel attached (docked / viewed within) to dolphin, their synchronization (dolphin folder <-> directory in konsole) is very helpful for me. Nevertheless, having updated to openSuSE Leap 15.1, dolphin version 18.12.13, I notice this does not work straight on like it used to do in openSuSE 42.3 (I do not know what version of dolphin then). Now, at clicking on a folder in dolphin, I still need to issue two "returns" in the konsole panel for it to go to the directory (folder) I had clicked in dolphin. Is there a way to correct this (I suppose, to straight issue - and enter - a cd command)? I should say that I use csh. Thanks, J. |

Hello jocomaro,
it appears we have a very similar problem. I have been using openSuSE Leap 42.3 as well so far. But I use KDE3.5. Currently I am testing Leap 15.1 with KDE3.5 as well as KDE5. In both cases the terminal synchronization in kate (and in dolphin under KDE5 as well) fails. An important hint was, that you use csh. I use tcsh. When switching to bash the synchronization problem is gone. For me this is only partly a solution as I have several scripts to rewrite in bash when I am forced to abandon tcsh. To specify how the issue looks: When I switch in kate from document in my home directory to another document in the directory ~/.kde4/sher/config the prompt in the kate terminal looks like this: /home/astro20% cd /home/astro20/.kde4/share/config The cursor remains behind the "config", so the cd command is not executed. When swithcing back to the document in the home directory it liooks like /home/astro20% cd /home/astro20/.kde4/share/configcd /home/astro20 Does anyone have an idea why bash does synchronize, but tcsh/csh does not? It appears to me that it has something to to with line termination (CR/LF). I am definitely not an expert on that and I am puzzled whether bash and csh/tcsh might have different requirements regarding this. It would be great to find a solution. Best regards astro20 P.S.: This is the first time I try to describe such an issue on a board. If anything remains unclear I will happily provide more information. |
