What is "stash" in Dolphin?

Tue Mar 17, 2020 4:38 pm
Running dolphin 19.08.3, KDE:
Operating System: Gentoo Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.17.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.67.0
Qt Version: 5.13.2
Kernel Version: 4.19.97-gentoo
OS Type: 64-bit
Processors: 8 × Intel® Core™ i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00GHz
Memory: 15.7 GiB of RAM

This is just out of curiosity. While messing with the dolphin shortcut key configuration, I noticed there is a shortcut of CTRL-S defined as "Stash" that appears to do nothing as far as I can tell. Also, I noticed in the toolbar config dialog, there is a "Stash" button available, described as "Opens the stash virtual directory in a split window", but if I add this button to a toolbar, it never actually appears.

I can't find anything about this in the dolphin handbook. Is this a feature to be implemented sometime in the future?

Nevermind - I found the answer here: https://kde.org/applications/system/org.kde.filestash

I needed to install kio-stash to get the shortcut & button to work. This looks like a cool feature.
