I have updated the right-click dropdown menu routine for secure deletion of files/folders in Dolphin. It was not working because Dolphin could not find securedelete.sh and securedeletefolder.sh in ~/bin anymore. I changed the install.sh to place them in /usr/bin as well. Dolphin now finds the programs again. It took me a while to find a solution.
I guess someone changed the path. It did still work in a terminal window in Dolphin just not as a dropdown menu. https://github.com/blue-bullet/Secure-Delete-Servicemenu-kde5 or https://www.opencode.net/blue-bullet/Secure-Delete-Servicemenu-kde5/tree/master I hope this helps someone. Cheers

Thanks, but did you report this as a bug? lease do and link your fix there
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

I did not file a bug report. They'd probably just call it a duplicate as usual. I tried to get on as a developer to contribute but I did not pass muster I guess. I just put the routine out on github.com for others to use if they want. Could never find a way to get it added to the Dolphin Download New Services "Hot New Stuff". I do not have an attitude problem. I just could not find a way to contribute so I gave up.

but it is so easy to contribute, subscribe to their mailing list and start tackling existing bugs, submit a code review, that's all that is needed. You can find instructions for all of this all over our wikis.

I just asked as a user, why this tool does not exist in Discover? |
