File rating - how does it work

Sat Aug 01, 2020 4:39 pm
Hi,

How does file rating work in dolphin/kde? The ratings appears to be the same in dolphin and gwenview, but Is there a way to make them work on removable disks?

Kindly,
Anders

I fear I do not understand the question...

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

I have a USB drive which I use for photos (Canon CR2 RAW files and exported jpgs). During culling (looking through photos) in gwenview, I set a rating for images I want to work on, but this rating is not kept. Same if I set the rating in dolphin, and ratings from either application is visible in the other. If the files are on the harddrive of my laptop, ratings are remembered.

Hence, how can I make ratings set on files on external drives remembered?

I hope this helps.
