What does clicking on device do under the covers?

Greetings,

I'm new to KDE (5.18.5) and am looking for some knowledge. On Dolphin (19.12.3), on the left pane under Devices, I have a Windows drive (separate NVME Windows drive), and a Storage drive (USB 3 backup drive -- Timeshift). After I reboot, the icons for those show up as yellow (normally they're white/gray). Once I click on them, they turn the normal color, and then I can access them.

So the question is what is happening under the covers when I click on the icon? Is it a simple mount? If so, what is the getting executed, or how do I tell what is getting run. I would like to setup some autostart thing that mounts them at boot. The reason this is an issue is that I have music on the Windows drive, and when I pull up the music player (Clementine), I get a bunch of error messages about the drive/files not being available. Then I have to close Clementine, open Dolphin, click on the two device icons, and re-run Clementine.

Any help or suggestions are greatly welcomed!

Have a look at System Settings -> Hardware -> Removable Storage -> Removable Devices

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...
