Greetings. I am a user used to keyboard workflows for most of my navigation. Dolphin (and KDE) is thankfully quite friendly to this approach, however there is one thing that irritates me that I would like to talk about. This is likely a future feature request, I'm just making sure now I haven't missed anything and that there isn't already functionality in Dolphin and/or KDE that would comfortably solve this issue.
Like I'm sure many users do, I have pinned several frequently visited folders to my Places panel. Unfortunately, there is no way that I know of that would allow me to quickly switch 'focus' between the Places panel and the main File Manager area. The only option I know of is to bash Shift+Tab around 10 times until I step through all the UI elements such as split views, breadcrumbs in the location bar etc. eventually reaching the Places panel. There is a shortcut for showing and hiding the Places panel, however using it doesn't switch the focus and therefore doesn't help me either. I'm looking for a keyboard shortcut that would switch me to Places and back directly or perhaps a different approach of achieving the same thing (outside of reaching for the mouse, obviously). Thanks for your time. |

I had the exact same question yesterday. I'd like to be able to do this too. Thanks.

Hi - I just started putzing around with keyboard and kind of got this to work. Quick double click Tab key will take you from Files to Places. When in Places you need to hit enter on the folder you want to access and you are automatically then in the Files section of that folder. Double Tab will take you back to Places. Kind of odd but it seems to work.

Doesn't work for me. I have Files as the focus and when I double click the Tab key nothing happens - i.e. the focus is still on Files. Hmm, just tried again, and it works consistently. I am Slackware Current, Plasma 5.22.1 / 5.83 Just stock install - no extra add-ons, tweaks or additional keyboard shortcuts.

I do not use any split windows or anything like that. Spaces is on the left and pane to the right are the Files. Interestingly, when in files pane, one Tab then allows me to change zoom on the icons using left/right arrow keys.

I've fiddled around with things a bit but can't replicate what you've been able to achieve. I'm fully up-to-date with software now.
