Good Afternoon
I have started using Dolphin (current version 21.04.0) this year under Manjaro Linux with the following system information: KDE Plasma Version: 5.21.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.81.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 Kernel Version: 5.10.34-1-MANJARO OS Type: 64-bit Graphics Platform: X11 I find Dolphin to be a vast improvement over all other Linux and Unix file managers that I have used. However, I have a question that I have not been able to find an answer to anywhere online to date and that involves the "recentlyused:" functionality which lists the most recently used files. It appears that there is a limit of 30 items that are able to be listed under "Recent Files". Additionally, this appears to be a hard limit. If, for example, I edit a file that is not in the "Recent Files" list then that one will be listed and a less-recently-accessed file removed from the list, leaving a total of 30 items. I would like to increase the number to a more suitable limit (at least 50). In addition, I would like to find online documentation regarding the system internals of Dolphin (preferably without having to read the source code). There is good user documentation online, but I can find nothing regarding the programming side of the software. Is anyone able to make any suggestions on either point? I thank you in advance for your assistance. kind regards Stephen Meatheringham Canberra, Australia |

I guess you want to know more about the configuration side, as for the programming side you would have to delve into the source code
This might be helpful: https://userbase.kde.org/Dolphin and of course https://userbase.kde.org/KDE_System_Adm ... tion_Files
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Thanks for your reply.
I have already seen the basic user documentation at https://userbase.kde.org/Dolphin which doesn't go into any useful configuration details. https://userbase.kde.org/KDE_System_Adm ... tion_Files seems to be fairly general KDE administration documentation. From the lack of replies it would appear that users other than myself have found the hard limit of 30 recently used entries to be sufficient. I think it's time for me to delve into the code and see how the "recentlyused" list is generated. It will probably be a good learning experience Thanks for taking the time to reply. regards Stephen Meatheringham Canberra, Australia |
