Hi there,
Every time I open a new window in Dolphin an error message pops up "The process for the tags protocol died unexpectedly" Additionally a notification also appears much less disruptive to the UI "tags.so died unexpectedly" Executable: tags.so PID: 34997 Signal: Bus error (10) Time: 15 Sep 2021 09:49:26 CEST I am running KDE5 on FreeBSD 13.0p4, the facility to report the bug is not enabled by default in the FreeBSD port for KDE5 when clicking on learn how to create a useful crash report it tells me to re build the port (wtf) with debug flags on That seems to be a second bug, error reporting is disabled by design on FreeBSD If anyone knows how to disable the feature which calls tags.so I would appreciate any suggestions. Have a great day! Oclair |

That is not a bug, but a distribution decision, as debugging symbols needed for useful crash reports can take a lot of space on a system, something most users will never need or use.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Hi there, thanks for responding. Well yes, and imagine having the Re-build KDE which would take quite a while as well! Is there a way to turn off tags.so from being called? I do have a core I could pass along! Have a nice day, OC |

The pop up message amounts to UI theft and if the ability to easily report the bug is disabled then it should be possible to disable the alert. I have not been (yet) affected by any degradation in usability of Dolphin. Searches also turn up nothing regarding tags.so
