Unable to rename partial file smb://

Thu Nov 18, 2021 10:57 am
Hi.

I have the latest version of neon. Everything works very well but I have a problem with dolphin when I access the remote folders: I can create folders and files, delete them but when I edit and save them I get this error: Unable to rename partial file smb. Check the permissions.

I've tried to access and edit the files from window and android: no problems found.

Could someone please help me?

Kind Regards
Danilo

How do you do to mount that remote folder? Show us
Code: Select all
fstab
file or mount command you use to mount that smb folder.

Hi rafaellinuxuser.

Thank you for your response.

To browse remote folders I opened dolphin -> network -> shared folders (SMB) -> pc name. So I can see all the shared folders.

From other pc's I can easily edit files while from this pc with the latest version of neon I get the error I put in the topic.

Kind Regards

I'm sure is being mounted as "Read Only". You can execute "sudo findmnt" and it will show what parameters is being used to mount that folder.

You wrote about "other PC's" but you didn't mention what operating system are and how you mount that samba folders on those PCs.

Hi rafaellinuxuser.

I simply navigate to remote folders. With windows 10 OS I go into the network folders, go into the shared folders and edit all the files with no problem.

If I access with android, from my smartphone or tablet also running android OS, I can edit all the files without any problems.

I had a test done with a mac and ios and even from that pc access the shared folders on the network and edit all the files.

They don't run any commands to mount the remote partitions: they browse through the file manager and do everything from there.

Kind Regards

SMB remote folders are mounted using Kio-Fuse on Plasma. Suggested "findmnt" command will not show folders mounted that way. I think this question should be moved to "Dolphin General Discussion". Meanwhile, did you try to do same with another LIVE distro (openSUSE, Fedora, etc)?

How do I move the discussion to "Dolphin General Discussion"?

I haven't tried any other live distros at the moment. This problem has occurred with the latest updates.

You must ask for it to forum admins (email at bottom of this page).
