Dolphin+Policykit

Thu Apr 14, 2022 10:28 am
Hi to all,

I read her that kio is now integrated with policykit.

I have kio 5.93 al dolphin fropm git (22.03.80.r46.g3ebe3975a)
but I can't copy a file in /

What is missed?

(I'm on manjaro unstable branch)

Best!

Hi!

I never use GUI tools to copy files to root, so I can just point you in a direction → polkit. PolicyKit is pain in… you know…. Have a look at the provided Actions and Rulesets in /usr/share/polkit-1/{actions,rules.d}/. There should be files containing Dolphin or parts of it if your distribution has any. I think theres only the Kate-part as default (ktextedit), so you could try to save your file to / instead of copy/pasting.

If copying is supported, be sure that the file permissions are set in parallel as they should have root:service or service:service as owner and group, depending on where you want to copy them.

I don't think it actually made it. it was present back in January (in Neon's testing branch at the time) but it stalled, or needed to be redone for whatever reason.
It seems any reports or announcements about it were a bit premature :(
