Hello
I am using Xubuntu but I installed dolphin because I am very used to it after over a year of KDE usage, but I noticed something strange: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/39/dolphind.png/ left row of dolphin is active but there is a strange colouring on the inactive row (right one), this happened only recently, I didn't have this on me old KDE system and also for a few first days it didn't look like this, it looked like this: http://www.linuxtopia.org/online_books/ ... itview.png what could be the cause of this? |

Can you reproduce this under a new user?
Have you attempted to change the background of Dolphin windows?

How can I change the background? I am using dolphin on xfce.
EDIT: I created another user and still colours are messed up. |

Okay, so it seems to be system wide.
Which version of KDE are you using?

As I posted earlier I am using Xfce but I installed dolphin because I used KDE for some time earlier and really liked it as a file manager.

Dolphin uses underlying technology which comes from the KDE version you installed it from. In Dolphin, what KDE version is shown in Help > About KDE?

This could be due to the KDE Colour scheme you have in use. If you run "kcmshell4 colors" and switch to a different scheme, can you reproduce?

When I invoke
kcmshell4 colors I get kcmshell(14603)/kdecore (services) KServiceFactory::findServiceByDesktopPath: "colors.desktop" not found kcmshell(14603)/kdecore (services) KServiceFactory::findServiceByDesktopPath: "kcm_colors.desktop" not found kcmshell(14603)/kdecore (services) KServiceFactory::findServiceByDesktopPath: "kcmcolors.desktop" not found Could not find module 'colors'. See kcmshell4 --list for the full list of modules. so I think I need to install something first. |

Yes, you will probably need to install parts of KDE Workspace in order to change your KDE color scheme.

Can you try to pinpoint what packages should I install?
EDIT: Preferably I would want to install as little as possible. |

The source code is located at kde-workspace.git, directory /kcontrol/colors/ on git.kde.org. What package it relates to is usually distribution dependent.

To be honest it seems that it will take me more than 5 minutes, so I won't try to fix this issue for now, because it doesen't affect the functionality of Dolphin, but thanks for your time bcooksley

Judging by what I have here, if this is a bug and not a colour scheme problem it is likely fixed in 4.8.0.
