since upgrading to kde4.8.1 I can't see the image sizes in the right (info) panel anymore. How can I get that information back?

Also this doesn't seem to work with the new dolphin:
kde-service-menu-kim.

Is there a new version for this somewhere?

as far as i can tell Kim has not been changed in years and it still works fine for me (at least in minimal testing). Here is the web site http://bouveyron.free.fr/kim/

when you say "image sizes" do you mean dimensions or space used? I only have space used, but don't use the panel so have no idea if dimensions were there prior to Dolphin 2.0

could you try testing Kim and image sizes in the right panel as a different user

note: moved to Dolphin forum

I'll check out kim some more.

I did mean image dimensions. I have a lot of images for websites and advertising layouts. That is always handy information to have at a glance.

dimensions will be displayed if Nepomuk is enabled and the directory has been indexed

I'll do that later on, right now nepomuk is still indexing. Still can't see the image dimensions in the side panel.

Don't know if file content indexing (Nepomuk File Indexer) needs to be enabled for dimensions to be seen or just the Nepomuk Semantic Desktop

if you right click on the information panel and select "Configure", you can check what fields are to be shown

Been there (the first thing I did ;) )
Only have the following choices: address, evaluation (sorry mine is in german), owner, date changed, size, comment, resource established, resource changed, keyword, type, permissions.

The sizes, for JPEG images at least, are mentioned as "Height" and "Width" in the Dolphin sidebar on my system. What type of images are these?

I have a mix, but no dimensions, regardless of type.

I think you need to install the exiv2-library (if I remember correctly the metadata-parser requires it for parsing the image-data, but I might be wrong)

exiv2, libkexiv2-data, is installed and I have two libkexiv2-10's:
libkexiv2-10 version 4:4.8.1-0ubuntu1~oneiric1~ppa1
and
libkexiv2-10 version 0.21.1-0ubuntu2

can you create and login as a new user and copy a few images and then enable Nepomuk for that folder with the images and see if dimensions are displayed
