Greetings, dear colleagues.
When I open some folder in Dolphin and type some letters (say "gre") Dolphin very often does nothing instead of putting marker on file beginning on "gre". This behavior is rather unstable, i.e. if I press F5 and type again Dolphin may do what I need. Does someone encounter with this problem? OS: OpenSuse 12.1 64 bit KDE: 4.8.2 (there was no such issue in KDE 4.7.2) Best regards, Aleksey. |

does this happen if you type when you first enter a folder or after you already typed letters to move to a folder? there appears to be a period of rest between changing markers by typing

This happens after I type 1-2 times (i.e. on the third or fourth time). There's some a lag time (approximately 10-20 seconds) when I type something and get no result.
However, when I enter a folder with large number of files/folders (~100), it may happen on the first typing. |

Sorry for the late reply. I think that this is indeed either
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=297488 or https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=297458 The timeout after which the search is reset will be reduced to 1 second in KDE 4.8.3, and I'll try to find out a way to improve the situation further. Sorry for the inconvenience ![]() |

Thanks for the reply. I understood that this issue is to be solved. As for me, the most convenient behavior was in Dolphin 1...
