Hi folks.
I use kde 4.8.3 on Gentoo and I have a problem with ftp and dolphin. When ever I've been logged in into my ftp account dolphin asked for every action for username and password which realy sucks. If I use konqueror for ftp connection no problems. Konqueror asks just for the first login and let me work without typing username and passwort on every action. Yes I can use konqueror but I like dolphin much more. Does anyone have a solution for me? Tuxinger PS: Sorry for my bad english. |

If you place your username in the url, ie. ftp://user@ftpserver/path does it work properly?
Given that Konqueror and Dolphin share this functionality, I am quite surprised it works in Konqueror but not in Dolphin.

Hi.
Thank you for your reply. I use ftp://username@mydomain.tld/path but this works only in konqueror. The problem with dolphin comes with kde 4.8.1 and it looks like dolphin loose the connection. Tuxinger |

How are you entering the URL into Dolphin for browsing the FTP server?
Are you entering a full url - or using the breadcrumbs?

Hi.
I enter the full URL in dolphin and in konqueror. In konqueror no problems. Dolphin asked for every action for password and username. Tuxinger |

Ok, this will need the Dolphin developers assistance to debug unfortunately.

I've just had a look. I believe that this should be fixed in KDE 4.9 by the following commit: https://projects.kde.org/projects/kde/kde-baseapps/repository/revisions/ff37139bcfa02973499c753df33eba19fdc347c5 |

Hi.
Thank you for the link. I think that's the problem. I'll wait for KDE SC 4.9 now. Tuxinger |
