Directory information with Dolphin.

Mon Jul 23, 2012 6:45 am
Hi,

the lasts months the behaviour of Dolphin changed when dealing with a network or a FUSE fs. Previeuws and .directory files are not processed, to improve performance. I've posted a bugreport:

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=291174

but it was not a bug, maintainers changed the behaviour.

Now I'm working on a FUSE fs which offers different maps with access to different resources, like:

~/Devices/ ..cdroms usb devices harddisks ....

and

~/Network/...Windows Network... and other networks

It works pretty good, but only I would like to provide .directory files, to provide visual information, like a harddiks icon when dealing with a harddisk, and a "removabledeviceicon" with a usb stick, and simular for network.

(this worked with dolphin in kde 4.8.2 en back)

What I propose are some configurationoptions, to enable the old behaviour (the lookup of .directory files for directories especially)like:

enable/disable the previeuw of directories
(when disabled nothing changes)

(when enabled some suboption like give preview only for the first "x" level deep, or only lookup when directory does not contain more than "y" subdirectories)
