I have installed ntfsprogs, ntfs-config, ntfs-3g, but whenever I copy something from Kubuntu 12.04 to a ntfs partition or usb memory, y can't open it on Windows (it says the file is either on a location that is not avaivable or doesn't exist. With Kubuntu, I checked the files I copied on ntfs system and all of them have forbidden read/write for others users and group. Only owner can read/write. The thing is that on Kubuntu, those files haver read/write permissions for owner and group. Even files I create or download on kubuntu can't be opened on a ntfs drive, because they end up with forbidden r/w permissions except for owner. I tried to change the permissions but they don't. I change them, accept, but when I check the permission again, the are still the same. I have never experienced this, My last important update was the kernel 3.2.0-30-generic.
Using Dolphin 2.0 on KDE 4.8.4 Any help is appreciated. |

Can you please check the mounting options?
This can be done by running 'mount'.

Okay, comparing that with the mount line generated for me by SUSE shows quite a few differences.
You may wish to try adding some of the options present on my system. The most likely relevant one is default_permissions I guess.

Thank you for your answer but, how do I do this? |

This will likely be controlled by a line in /etc/fstab. I suggest you ask on your distributions forum regarding this if you are not comfortable adjusting this file.
