Does hiding the Places Panel help?

One way to find out where in the code the freeze occurs is to run Dolphin inside gdb:

Code: Select all

gdb dolphin
run

When the freeze occurs, press Ctrl+Z and wait for the gdb prompt to reappear. Then enter:

Code: Select all

thread apply all backtrace

Press Enter if gdb offers you to continue, and paste the backtrace here.

I'm having the same issue. At the risk of hijacking this thread I'll post the results you ask for from my system. If this is an issue I'll gladly start a new thread and edit/remove this post. Thank you.

EDIT: FIxed my issue by removing dolphinrc and restarting the computer.

In that case, also the dolphinrc which triggers the problem might be useful.

Note that there was a similar bug report recently, which is apparently related to upower: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=322494

I don't know if your issue is related to that one though.
