Customize 'Create New' menu

I will like to have some templates to be available in 'Create New' menu.

Tried placing the template files in ~/.kde/share/templates but that does not work.

What is the correct method of doing it?

Thanks! But this is VERY cumbersome --- quite unlike KDE :)

Wish there were something simpler like placing blank documents is a directory
