/var/tmp/kdecache-user_name

Fri Jun 14, 2013 10:52 am
Dear all,
I am a new user of KDE ambient and I found a problem with my files on samba server.
I use lots of file in my server, but when I try to save a customed one stored on it, I always have to move it from
/var/tmp/kdecache-user_name
to the real destination (smb://masc008@server) with a lot of time to lose.

Do yo have any tip??

Are you modifying the file in a KDE application or a non-KDE application?
This behaviour could easily be occurring if you are editing the file in a non-KDE application - especially if you are closing Dolphin before saving the file.

I'm having this problem when I modify a .doc file in my server's foulder with libreoffice.
When I save it with a new name, I have to reach the destination's foluder from /var/tmp.....that's a real waste of time.

Ah, Libreoffice is not a KDE application - which explains this. Saving it with a new name definitely would not be detected by KDE.
In this case, you might want to look into mounting the Samba share into the system - using applications such as Smb4k.
