For a some days (don't remember any KDE related update) now Dolphin, Kdialog (and other programs like gwenview) are slow starting up. All of those programs hung at:
kdialog(8003)/kdecore (KSycoca) KSycocaPrivate::openDatabase: Trying to open ksycoca from "/var/tmp/kdecache-firewalker/ksycoca4" dolphin(8015)/kdecore (KSycoca) KSycocaPrivate::openDatabase: Trying to open ksycoca from "/var/tmp/kdecache-firewalker/ksycoca4" gwenview(8037)/kdecore (KSycoca) KSycocaPrivate::openDatabase: Trying to open ksycoca from "/var/tmp/kdecache-firewalker/ksycoca4" The same goes when a program wants to open a file dialog (e.g. kolourpaint). After the start up delay everything is normal. I tried removing ksycoca4 file, removing all KDE cache, without success. And some other thing found on similar issues I found here. Any ideas? Arch Linux. kde4-config -v: Qt: 4.8.5 KDE Development Platform: 4.10.5 kde4-config: 1.0 |

Does interacting with "kded4" over D-Bus return immediately? If kded4 is hung / slow at responding, it could very well explain this issue.
To test this out, please run this command. It should normally return instantly.

Just turned on my pc today and it seems ok now... ?? After six days it decided to solve the problem it self. I am strangling to remember what could have fixed it. I did no new packet install/upgrade. And since posted here, I didn't took any action to solve the problem.
btw, qdbus org.kde.kded is instant. |

Okay. If the issue recurs, please try the qdbus diagnostic method I mentioned.
