I am running Debian stable updated, KDE 4.
I attempted to install from Dolphin (Settings -> Configure Dolphin -> Services -> Download new services). Find in Folder Service Menu by jmullman is not working, fails to install and also fails to uninstall. How can I get rid of it? Thank you. |

if it failed to install, it shouldn't be there to uninstall - does it show when right clicking?
I tried to dl it within Dolphin and it doesn't show, what version on KDE? It's probably problamatic because it was written in 2004, pre KDE 4.0 do you have kfind installed? try this: create a file called kfindhere.desktop and place it in ~/.kde/share/kde4/services/ServiceMenus
ps - no idea where this came from but functionally its what you tried to install is supposed to do also, why are you not just using the Dolphin find? ctrl+f |

Does not
No, but I would like to try it, where find kfind?
Seems a bit complicated to install this script as a subsequent upgrade might conflict with it, nevertheless it is worth a try, do I need to install kfind first?
Because I am a newb and didn't know it existed, works great. On another note, there is a bug in this forum: I am not getting topic reply notification emails, already spoke to bcooksley about it, but still no fix. Thanks for answer. |

Unfortunately I have not yet been able to find the cause of the issue i'm afraid - they should work. Just to verify, you are subscribed to this topic correct?

kfind is found in the kfind package (at least in openSUSE), search in whatever package manager you use, when installed try this version of the kfind service menu (it was written for KDE 4.x) http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php/Fi ... ent=140365
does ctrl+f (or menubar -> edit -> find) work for you? |

I guess, because I started it, I have never subscribed to topics I did not start, maybe that is the cause. |

kfind is installed, I use Debian so Synaptic is the package manager I use. I am getting ready to move from stable to testing today, there is a newer version of kfind in the testing repo. After I complete the move will install service menu from kde-apps.org, and be back here.
Sure does, there is also an icon on menu bar that does same thing, I must have been blind not to see that. |

Beside "Reply to topic" there is a drop down labeled "Tools". Can you check if it mentions "Subscribe topic" or "Unsubscribe topic" there?
The default settings for subscription to topics can be found in the User Control Panel if I recall.

Yes and yes, I checked the subscription box and watched the topics in the Control Panel, let's see what gives. Now I have a more urgent problem, the upgrade to the testing branch broke completely my video settings, video does not respond to commands issued from the KDE interface. I lost the Multiple Monitors tab in the Display applet and now my monitors are cloned and I don't know how to solve. Nobody has answered as of yet. Thank you. |

I've just responded to that topic - hopefully that subscription setting has solved your email issue.
Once you're graphics issue is sorted, let's return to this topic and try to sort it out.

Solved! At least this issue, I subscribed to this topic and got the email, I just subscribed to the other one too so I should be getting them there too. Will wait a little and then marked as solved. What threw me off is that I don't need to do that in other forums, it is automatic. Maybe not a bug, but yes a suggestion for improvement. |

Excellent. From what I recall, subscription to a topic here is part of the defaults, but can be disabled on a per user basis. Not sure why it would have gotten disabled for you though. Something we may need to look into if we receive more reports of people not getting notified.
