Setting Dolphin startup directories?

I can set the default startup directory but I run in split mode and Dolphin starts with that directory in both panes. I would like to be able to set two different startup directories, one for each pane. Is this possible? An even better solution would be for Dolphin to have the capability to remember the last used directories and return to them on the next startup.
Thanks.

Neither of these things is possible, sorry. These issues have been reported as wishlist items:

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=175338
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=201924

However, there haven't been many requests so far, so it seems that only a rather tiny part of our user base would benefit from such options. Given that they would make the UI of the settings dialog more complex for everyone and they would also require rather intrusive in the source code, making it more bug-prone and more difficult to maintain in the future, it seems unlikely that they will be implemented. Sorry about that.

Yes, thanks for the reply. I would imagine that more people would be in favor of either, or both, of these options if they had been able to experience their use. Once you have these, it is really irksome to be without them. I love working in Kubuntu as opposed to Windows, but I really miss using Power Desk as my file manager.
