Occaisionaly I've needed to create a symbolic link to a file or directory and keep trying to do it in a file manager (silly me). Just wondering why it's never been implemented and if it might be in the future.
Be nice if it opened a directory tree to select the object to be linked to. thanks, |

Which version do you use? In dolphin in KDE 4.1 this feature is implemented. And you can move a file/folder to your target directory, then a menu should popup where you can decide for copy/move/link.

I'm using 4.1.80 of Dolphin (4.2beta'ish of KDE4) and yes I can move/copy with a popup but I'm wishing to create a symbolic link as in the title |

You are right, that is currently not possible. Perhaps you might want to file a wish on bugs.kde.org. If you use drag and drop and select Link then it creates a symbolic links, but creates a .desktop file if you select link to location from the New menu.
