Mount options

Sun Jan 24, 2016 4:39 pm
How can I modify the mount options for Dolphin/Plasma -not sure what is the "manager" for this stuff-? For example, when I clik on its respective icon ant the Devices section in Dolphin's Places panel, it mounts a not every day used partition on an SSD with "relatime" option, but for SSD drives it's recommended "noatime" -for minimizing writes ergo increasing their limited duration-. I'd also like to mount an external BTRFS drive I use as storage for large files like videos, backups and such, that I don't need to access every day not even every week, so I'm fine with Dolphin mounting it in /run/media/, but I want it to be mounted with "compress" option on, but Dolphin mounts it without. How can I do this?

Cheers.

interesting, possibilities (just guessing)

you would need to write udev rule(s) something like: http://www.axllent.org/docs/view/auto-m ... b-storage/ and https://superuser.com/questions/53978/a ... user-logge

and/or add fstab entry for the device, making sure it is not set to automatically attach (system settings -> Hardware -> Removeable Devices -> Device overrides) and then manually mount it

OpenSuse Leap 42.1 x64, Plasma 5.x

I'm looking for the same thing as the OP, using KDE Dolphin to mount external btrfs disks, but I'd like compression to be enabled. Is there maybe any easier way to do this in 2022 then to hardcode every disk in fstab as explained in 2016?
