Hallo Community,
I did a distribution update today, and wanted to continue work with a local copy (checkout) of a file stored in a svn repository. As I knew the file was changed on another workstation I wanted to do update the repository before working. Surprise! The subversion context menue in dolphin is gone... kdesvn is up an running, operation looks normal and i can open the file with kdesvn´ s context menu. I have filed a bug report https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=358989 for kdesvn but I am curious it might be a problem with dolphin. Any suggestions or opinions? Thank you! |

Thank you for your reply!
Yes, kio_svn 15.12.1-10.1 is installed, but I got a reply from a developer that kdesvn is designed for kde4, this workstation however has been upgradet to Leap 42.1 some weeks ago, 42.1 uses kde5 I think - systeminfo only mentions kde plasma 5.5.4 but I have worked with this environment up to 14 days ago with the same setting. I had a motherboard replacement (exact same type and bios), but that should not affect this behavior... |

could be, just guessing, that you had been running Dolphin for KDE 4 and that the distro update switched to the KDE 5 version of Dolphin. I see 2 versions available based on the repos I have 15.08.x and 15.12.x, if running .12 downgrade to .08 and see it that works.
If this is critical to you then you can add the wolfi323 repo which allows for KDE 4 to co-exist on your system giving you ability to run Dolphin KDE4 If you look at the kio_svn files provided by the pkg you'll see they are kde4 specific |

Not necessary in this case (and it won't help either), the KDE4 version of dolphin is installed by default on Leap anyway. There just is no menu entry, you need to run "dolphin4" manually or create a menu entry for it. The subversion context menu is provided by dolphin-plugins though, I'm not sure whether you need kio_svn at all for that or not. Leap did come with the KF5 based dolphin right from the start, so that's not something an update would have changed. Btw, you say you use Plasma 5.5.4. Leap comes with 5.4.3 though. So you are using additional repos? Do dolphin and dolphin-plugins have the same version then? Maybe you updated one but not the other? Is SVN support enabled in Dolphin's settings->Services? I can't help you more with your problem unfortunately, never used SVN myself. The git plugin works fine here. |

it seems to be right: dolphin has been replaced during the distro upgrade. I have installed the wolfi323 repository and installed dolphin4, Version 14.12.3 for KDE 4.14.16 and it works for me now as that gave me again the ability to get the local checkout directories in sync.
Thank you for your efforts! |

In dolphin Version 15.12.1 Unter KDE Frameworks 5.18.0 the plugin was disabled, however enabling did no good. Did not work! But installing dolphin 4 was the solution for the time waiting for a kde5 compatible svn client
Thx for your support!. |

For the record, I just tried the svn plugin (part of dolphin-plugins) here with dolphin 15.12.1, and it seems to work just fine (without kio_svn or kdesvn even installed). But apparently you are not talking about that dolphin plugin, but kdesvn's ServiceMenu entries... Sorry, for the confusion. Yes, those will only show up in dolphin4. But as I wrote, dolphin4 is part of Leap and installed by default, so you wouldn't necessary have to install it from my repo. You could copy kdesvn's ServiceMenu files to the KF5 location though, to make them show up in dolphin5 as well. KDE4 had them in /usr/share/kde4/services/ServiceMenus/, while KF5 expects them in /usr/share/kservices5/ServiceMenus/. If that works, you could file a bug report with openSUSE so we can provide an update for kdesvn that installs them in both locations... |
