Hi all:
I've been using this feature for a long time (Right click - Create new - Basic link to file or directory) to create soft links to files and folders in my home folder. However, it seems that something is broken in Plasma 5.6 and Dolphin. I can use the above mentioned steps to create symbolic links to folders but not to files. Even if I create symbolic links on the terminal (using ln -s) they do not work in Dolphin. However, it all works as expected if I use Konqueror... I am using Arch Linux, KDE Frameworks 5.21.0 and Dolphin 16.03.90 (built against qt 5.6.0). Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Should I file a bug in KDE Bugtracking System? Thanks in advance: Pedro |

Never used this but I can confirm your experience, strange because drag & drop -> link here, works fine for me
Definitely file a bug bug search for an existing one first also post the bug report here for others and vote for it |

Testing with the Arch Linux:
Old: Qt 5.5.1 KF 5.19.0 Dolphin 15.12.2 Current: Qt 5.6.0 KF 5.21.0 Dolphin 15.12.3 New (Packages from Arch KDE Unstable) Qt 5.6.0 KF 5.21.0 Dolphin 16.03.90 The linking is working fine but all have the bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=357171. That is - The KF5 file picker doesn't have the option to pick files. ![]() A workaround is to copy/write the file path to the path line. ![]() With the Dolphin4 / Konqueror (There is no KF5 version of the Konqueror released) there is an option to pick all files ![]() |
