Adjust dolphin scroll speed

Tue May 02, 2017 1:40 am
I am starting to get annoyed at the speed of dolphins scrolling in some--especially large--folders. It scrolls way too fast and I cannot seem to find a setting to adjust this directly. Searching, I can only see people complaining about how slow it is, but I seem to have the opposite issue. It messes with my head because it's so much faster than a browser (for example) or text editor.

You might report this to bugs.kde.org.

Checking to see if there has already been anything similar reported I did see this: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=355410, though that is the opposite problem - unusably slow scrolling in dolphin (and various other places), but examining that case and checking/trying some of the things mentioned might turn up something useful.

I too am just about fed up with never being able to find anything in Dolphin because the scrolling is like double the speed it should be. I mean I use Dolphin a lot and to never be able to find anything because I am always scrolling past it really is annoying. It is really fast like to the point that I have started using my file manager full screen just to try and alleviate the over scrolling a little. I use Arch so I am on the newest of everything and there has been no changes in the scrolling speed since I started using KDE again. The scrolling in GTK apps is just fine and as far as I can tell it is fine everywhere beside Dolphin. It is very annoying. I hope this is fixed soon.

Looks like the bug is still outstanding: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=386379, however there is a patch in review which changes dolphin to base the scroll rate on text size rather than whole item size.
As it stands right now it is linked to the size of the icons, so adjusting the size may be used to change the scroll speed.
