Hi there and thanks in advance to everybody for each second of their time.
Installed 18.04 Neon on a computer with two 3Tb HDDs full of data, and while browsing around noticed some looooong names on some files and folders. Problems is, with Dolphin's defaults this long strings create absurd vertical spacing between rows . Already checked Dolphin's settings wich allows to restrict the number of lines showed for files/folders... and this returned the vertical spacing to a much more sane & logical view... however... the full string remains partially hidden . Full disclosure---> this happened on the computer of a relative where i just installed Neon ... and he asked me this : Is there any way the file/folder displays its full string - only - when you select it and remain restricted to 2 lines max when unselected ( on "icons only" view ) ? I already pointed out you can read the full string ( either when you select the desired file/folder or even briefly when you move the mouse over unselected files ) if you look at the bottom of Dolphin's windows ... but for this user it feels way too unnatural to look down there when he is moving around files/folders that are - most of the time - just in his visual line . Maybe there's a setting i'm missing and will feel incredibly dumb when anybody point me to it... but so far have been unable to find the proper way to do it while browsing Dolphin's settings . |

I think this feature would be a worthwhile addition. I don't think it's been added yet. I'd suggest that this request not be limited to the Icons view either.
Another feature I think could be worthwhile would be that when using the List view that long names could be wrapped using as many lines as the ratio of icon size to font size.
