i need to be able to rightclick and open as root. suggestions on how to add or restore the function. thanks

First of all, what versions of what distro + KDE apps are you using? (open the KDE info center app to grab this information)
Second, what exactly are you trying to do that needs root access? Could such things not be accomplished using the on-the-fly privilege escalation features that have been added in recent versions of Dolphin/KIO? (is there a feature that it yet missing in the latest versions?) The KIO libraries have recently been updated to allow you to open root-editable files as a normal user and then when you try to save them it will ask for the root (sudo) permission at that time.
