Hi!
I want to have 2 configurations at the same time but it seems they are incompatible. I think they shouldn't be.

I want to set the default view mode : Compact. I know how to do this. It's easy.

At the same time I want to see the Type field by default when I select the view mode Details.
Again, I know how to do this but only if the default view mode is Details.

I hope to have explained my problem clearly. Sorry if my English is not good enough.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

It's a little counter-intuitive how this works and maybe I'm missing an option somewhere but here's what I figured out.

1 - Go to a folder and set the view mode to Details.
2 - Add the Type column.
3 - Click the Control button in the toolbar and choose Adjust View Properties.
4 - Check the "Use these view properties as default" option and click Apply/OK.

It doesn't seem like it should but this will set the default view for all folders to the Details view which will now include the Type column. Now you need to do the following to set the Compact view as the default.

1 - Open any folder in Dolphin and set the view to Compact.
2 - Click the Control button in the toolbar and choose Adjust View Properties.
3 - Under "Apply View Properties To" choose the "All folders" option then Apply/OK.
4 - Choose Yes from the popup to reset all folders.

Now all your folder views have been set to Compact but the important part is that when you set the view type to Detail you should now always have the Type column shown. Hope this works for you.
