i have:
1. KDE Neon with kdenetwork, kdenetwork-filesharing and samba installed.
2. my user belongs to sambashare
3. shared dir is set this in dolphin:
[x] Share this folder with other computers on the local network
[x] Allow Guests
Everyone: Full Control

4. the share exists:
drwxrwx--T 2 root sambashare 4096 Sep 14 23:17 ./
drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 4096 Dec 11 2018 ../
-rw-r--r-- 1 madMyco madMyco 126 Sep 14 23:17 new-share

5. samba.conf [global]:
[global]
workgroup = WORKGROUP
server string = %h server (Samba, Ubuntu)
dns proxy = no
log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m
max log size = 1000
syslog = 0
panic action = /usr/share/samba/panic-action %d
server role = standalone server
passdb backend = tdbsam
obey pam restrictions = yes
unix password sync = yes
passwd program = /usr/bin/passwd %u
passwd chat = *Enter\snew\s*\spassword:* %n\n *Retype\snew\s*\spassword:* %n\n *password\supdated\ssuccessfully* .
pam password change = yes
map to guest = bad user
usershare max shares = 100
usershare allow guests = yes
usershare owner only = true
usershare path = /var/lib/samba/usershares

at some point i did set smbpasswd -a madMyco at some point while i was reading around. i can see the share from windows and linux but when i try to access the folder i have to enter my credentials. ive been around these articles and a few forums threads from manjaro but nothing yet: http://dirkmittler.homeip.net/blog/archives/5033
