This is a relatively fast computer running arch linux on two disks. one has xfce and one has KDE.
KDE seems very fast apart from one glitch. When I start dolphin, it freezes for 20 to 30 seconds before I can click on any folder. The same happens in the filepicker in any application. I presume it is scanning folders or something. There is no delay in the gtk filepicker. It's a 7700 intel CPU with 16GB ram and a 1050ti nvidia card. Any idea how I can tell what is happening? Arch linux has plasma 5.17.3 and kf5 5.64 |

I did some investigation and this appears to be due to a configured smb.conf.
Removing that file makes dolphin start instantly. However, it also means that I cannot host smb shares. This appears to be due to that kio modules are started from scratch (good idea actually) every time a kio is used. Am I understanding correctly? |
