Check Dolphin Settings. It is there but not enabled by default.

As to should/shouldn't, I imagine this feature can bog some systems down. As Neon pretty much sticks to default settings, so Dolphin itself probably doesn't have it turned on automatically.

I did check Dolphin setting but didnt see anything that would change current situation ... i assumed "preview" (as in screenshot below) means show video thumbnail?

Odd.
Make sure you have ffmpegthumbs installed. I have it installed on both my systems, and don't recall doing so, but it could always have been pulled in by something else.

Code: Select all
sudo apt install ffmpegthumbs

I'm not sure about Neon, but you may need to install kio-extras if it's not already installed.

Is the option doesn't show by default in settings, execute this command on the terminal:

sudo apt install ffmpegthumbs

Then close dolphin and start it again, go to dolphin settings and there will be able the option to activate it.
