I have been using the file manager, which is Dolphin, with 4 tabs open. I have noticed is that if I do "touch something.c", through terminal, which creates a file with that name. The problem is that it does not show up in the tab. I have to close down Dolphin and re-open in order to see that file there. This is not a problem when there is only one tab open.

I don't see this problem - for me, files created in konsole show up immediately in dolphin regardless of tabs.

Anyway, as a workaround, in dolphin, you should be able to press F5 or view->refresh to see new files in a directory instead of having to reopen it.
