Disable folder tree alternate colors

Sun Dec 25, 2022 10:51 pm
Hi there,

I managed to style Dolphin almost to my liking, except I cannot get rid of the alternate colors in the folder tree. Screenshot bellow. I did set the Normal Background and Alternate Background to the same color in Settings->Appearance->Color->Scheme Editor, but the folder tree seems to ignore those.

Anyone has any idea on how to disable that from a qss file?

Thanks in advance.

You could try the following. In the color scheme file in ~/.local/share/color-schemes, add two 00's at the end of [Colors:View]
BackgroundAlternate
Like so:https://imgur.com/a/gyxKcdK
That's for a regular plasma/breeze application style.

I believe that, if you're using kvantum, it's like:
~/.config/Kvantum/yourtheme/yourtheme.kvconfig
Under: [GeneralColors]
alt.base.color

Edit: Quickly checked with some scheme https://imgur.com/a/jmTzgFm

That worked like a charm. Thanks a lot. Those 00's would be what? Opacity?

Yes, that's right. 0-255.
There's a few tweaks you can do within that file. Before they came up with that halfbaked custom highlight c..p, you could do some changes to the window itself if you ran Lightly instead of breeze. The toolbar opacity for example. Under the WM section of the color scheme file you could change opacity in the same way. Nowadays it still works, but not as good. https://imgur.com/a/wRI4GZV

There's another color that I can't seem to figure out in the theme file. The hover background. See the screenshot bellow. All the hover colors refer to either text or button/window border, none of them to the hover background.

Any clues?

I'm afraid that has to be set in the listview.qml ( as transparent I believe), especially since they made the row clickable. Can't help you with that one, above my paygrade.
