When I want to rename a file with konqueror or dolphin it deletes the current filename and just shows ".ext". This is of course extremely inconvenient when I just want to make minor corrections to a filename. How can I change it to keep the current name and just highlight it?

I am unable to reproduce this on a several day old Trunk installation. Please update to the latest version available in the KDE 4.2 openSUSE repository, as the fix has likely been already included.

I upgraded to the latest version available in the factory repos and also tried it from a freshly created user profile afterwards but to no avail. If all fails I guess I'll have to reinstall opensuse, at least a good opportunity to upgrade from 11.0 to 11.1.

Boar: Have you upgraded your Qt to the version in KDE:Qt?

This might be a bug in the openSUSE packages. You may wish to contact them in this case ( I use self compiled packages )

Have you enabled "Renaming inline"? If so, then try disabling it and see if that works.

I tested with inline on and off, it's the same both ways.
