I am using KDE 4.2.0 with Mandriva 2009.0. My problem is with dolphin not doing exactly what I set up with KDE control center. It opens the files with single click OK, but for folders in both the tree view and the "locations" panel do not open with single click. In kde 4.1.3, the folders in "location" had to be double-clicked, but the ones in the tree view used to open with single click. Is there any solution to this? I really want to use single click everywhere.

Unable to reproduce on trunk. Try removing Dolphins configuration file:

Thanks for the reply. This actually corrected the behavior for icons in the locations panel, however the directories in the tree (folders) panel still need double clicking to be viewed on the main panel. I ended up removing the folders panel (F7). I guess I will just scroll up and down in the home directory instead, until the next upgrade.

I had the same problem. I used plasik widget style, when i switched back to oxygen it started working correctly again.

Thank you so much. I was using the la Ora-Qt style by Mandriva, switched to oxygen, and it is working like a charm now. Some styles are probably overriding the freaking settings I guess.

Fixed in cooker, should be ok in Mandriva 2009.1 .

BTW the problem was only with the "Places" panel, at least this was my experience.

I was translating it to English from my locale as "Locations". Places was what I meant. That part of my problem was solved by renaming the dolphinrc so that dolphin created a new config file. I also had the same problem with the "directories" (folders? tree?) panel which was corrected by switching the style to oxygen.

the problem is persistent until now, I think it is plasma 5 now which I run on Ububtu/LM 20 and is apparently not the theme or widget setting itself but a system settings problem ...

you just go to application style but don't touch it and go to windows decorations and chose any, apply and quit it, your single click is gone

now you look again in application style and see that no one is selected, so just select it or any again and the single click is back

can't believe that this is 10 years hanging around now

No idea what Plasma version you use, you should be more precise (KInfoCenter can tell you the details), but I can't reproduce what you state, maybe your system is not really up to date?
