Linux Mint 8, KDE 4.3.5.

I'm trying to convince myself that either I'm dumb or I just haven't looked hard enough, but I've spent two hours trying to figure out if I can do this -- I've toyed with Dolphin, Googled, searched on these forums, but can't find an answer. Should be a simple thing, but apparently it isn't (or it is and I'm a temporary n00b).

In Dolphin, in Details View -- is it possible to move the column headers? Right now my columns are arranged: Name, Size, Date, Type. However, I would prefer them in the order Name, Type, Date, Size. In Windows I can just drag the header (and the column it heads, of course) to where I want it, but I cannot find any way to do this in Dolphin.

Am I just missing something blindingly obvious, or can this just not be done?

I just pulled up a running Dolphin on my platform. (Kubuntu 10.04, KDE 4.4.4, Dolphin 1.4). I just added Type to my displayed details and was able to drag it around all over the place.

Maybe this is a recent fix? I don't know. If you have any updates available in Mint, maybe give it a try!!

That'll probably do it, then. You're a dot version ahead of me, so for now I'll just assume that's the fix and follow up when I update next. Thanks!

Is there please please please a way to move the "Name" column to the far right? I cannot stand the name column on the left and having to somehow not get lost when lining up the file size and date way over on the right side. And no, adding lines or whatever is not helpful at all. I cannot understand why this option was removed, even **** Microsoft lets me do this. I'm EXTREMELY annoyed at this change in behavior. I use Konqueror extensively and constantly need to be mindful of dates and sizes in relation to filenames, and the updated Konqueror/Dolphin file manager inexplicably changed that ability.

I can confirm your observation that the Name column appears to be stuck hard left, even though other columns are freely movable. I'll leave it to the Dolphin developers to answer why this is the case - as I cannot determine why this is done.

The reason for not being able to move the name column is just the lack of time: Internally it simplifies a few things but conceptually it would be no big deal implementing this.
